City of Boston Proposes Safety Improvements for Mattapan Square
To improve safety - particularly for the thousands of transit riders who pass through the square - the City of Boston's Transportation Department is proposing to close the wide right-turn slip lane in front of the Mattapan trolley terminal, widen sidewalks to reduce crosswalk distances, and add a new crosswalk across the Blue Hills Parkway to provide more direct access to the T station and the Neponset Greenway from the neighborhoods to the west.

It’s Official: Boston, MBTA Announce Three Free Bus Routes for Mattapan and Dorchester
Mayor Wu joined MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak this morning to announce a formal agreement to make three bus routes in Dorchester and Mattapan fare-free for a two-year period, starting next month.

City of Boston, MBTA Win Funds to Transform Blue Hill Avenue
City officials have estimated that the project would benefit roughly 20,000 bus riders in Dorchester and Mattapan, reduce their collective commuting times by 800 hours every day, and, with less time wasted in traffic, allow the T to make over 100 additional daily trips on existing routes using the same number of buses and drivers.

The MBTA announced on Monday that a pilot program to suspend fare collections on the MBTA’s Route 28 bus route, which serves Warren Street and Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury and Mattapan, will be extended one more month to run through the end of the calendar year.
