The MBTA announced Thursday morning that it will reduce fares for the entire Newburyport/Rockport Line all July and August while MassDOT closes the Sumner Tunnel for a restoration project.

The T and its operator, Keolis, will charge Zone 1A fares – the same cost as a subway ride – on the entire regional rail line between North Station and Newburyport and Rockport.

Additional details are available at mbta.com/sumner.

The T also invited passengers who purchased a monthly pass for the Newburyport/Rockport Line prior to the implementation of this fare change to contact Customer Service to be reimbursed.
